Where A Thousand Suns Lay Dying

Where all we care, was washed away
By waves of seething gray.
We were all alone in a distant world,
And the sanity began to fray.

Our future sun shines a bright red,
Laughing at the burning fields,
And men and homes on orange flames
Light up the shallow streams,

We are nothing, Nothing at all.
To the gods of war beyond safe lead,
Just pawns instead in games unplayed,
On a colored board of chess.

There are fires all around,
But no water too warm to quench a soul.
The frigid wind has turned a murderous blue,
The blood of rivers run cold.

And yet the the light wanes,
Over the heads of these men few.
Bleeding from wounds too deep for guns,
And walking under a moon too blue.

This starry night plagued with clouds,
No light could ever seep through.
And dark were the white mountains upon,
Which men with snow boots drew.

But then the mountain fell,
And with it fell the morning bright.
A weakened sun shone brightly through,
Over dead grounds washed alight.

The land was scorched where beds once lay,
Over toys were strewn dead guns.
Fields of tea, were sown with bullets spent,
And men smoldered where bread was burnt.

Yet the sun shined like nothing amiss,
Was lain under his scorching gaze.
Burning bright was the sunlit sky,
And under darkness the icy vale lays.

A thousand scars on bloodstained grounds.
Frigid waters pregnant with death.
There is no light, no light all around.
But we're here, without reason,
Yes we're here with no light all around.
