Irradiance

Shallow dips the Irradiant Sun,
As the crimson horizon fades.
The Morninglord sleeps under wings,
Of the happy Ocean waves.

I wiped the salt off my face,
And gazed over the mountain left.
Two trails wound down under driftwood trees,
And snaked through a forest bereft.

Bereft of darkness under blackened skies,
The woods shined a golden hue.
Yet up ahead the road was black,
And the night was yet dark blue.

Afraid I was to plod ahead,
Into the darkened way.
Without a lantern or solar light,
To brighten up my day.

Yet I could see beyond the darkened lands,
That Light afore the forest lay.
But how could I plunge into waters black?
Without lamps to brighten the spray.

Then I heard laughter to my right,
And plucked my gaze from the shaded lands.
You, against the setting Evening, stood,
Upon the shifting mountain sand.

Incredulous at my hesitation you,
Looked back at the Radiant Sun.
You pulled me through the darkened road,
And set off at a blinding run.

With every step you ran, the path,
Radiated with brilliant light.
My way was lit and the day was reborn,
Beyond the radiance of a dying light.

  1. The last bit doesn't flow as beautifully as the first but it was nice. I liked this a lot cause it reminded me of those stories and novel poem things kids are meant to read..like something I would have recited for elocution in school. :) you were right it was different. Entertaining but if you go to measure by depth I'd say to me your usual would be more appropriate....but this was fresh :)

  2. Aw, so lovely. So...sweet and lovely. When was the last time I read something so optimistically beautiful from you? =P

I really got into it. By the middle I was entranced, every rhyme just sliding off as I softly recited it and then by the end I had a smile on my face.

    Awr.
